About
Since you’ve come to this page, I’ll assume you want to know a little about me, the owner of this blog.
My name is CJ John and I live in the Midwest, United States. I am (at the time of this writing) 52 years old. My health concerns are such that I can no longer work outside my home and my stress levels are pretty high.
As a result, I began having panic attacks about 2 years ago. Only I didn’t know that’s what was happening.
You see, when my mother died several years ago, she had developed a condition called COPD – chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This has nothing to do with my panic disorder, of course, except that when I first started having these panic attacks, I would breathe (or rather, NOT be able to breathe) EXACTLY like my mother!
My conclusion was that I was developing COPD and, needless to say, this perpetuated my feelings of panic.
So, why did I decide to build a website about Panic Attacks? Because I want to enlighten those of you out there who are unfamiliar with this condition and shed some light on the problem.
You see, when i went to my doctor with what I thought was the beginnings of COPD, I ended up having a panic attack right there in her office.
Instead of telling me that I was suffering from panic disorder, she told me that I was not developing COPD and to get off my pity pot! She offered no other explanations for my condition and did nothing to help me.
Needless to say, I fired her.
When I went home, I started looking up the symptoms of COPD and in the course of finding websites talking about breathing, I discovered that one aspect of panic attacks is severe shortness of breath. The more I read about panic disorder, the more I realized that THAT was what I was suffering from.
That knowledge, in and of itself, went a LONG way towards alleviating my symptoms! I still would get panic attacks every now and again, but at least I knew what was really going on and how to take care of myself!
There are a number of articles and product recommendations on this website that will help you, if you suffer from panic disorder. Please understand that, since I can no longer work outside my home, some of these products ads are tied to an affiliate account, which means, if you purchase any of these products, I will get paid a commission. I think it’s only fair to let you know that.
If you want more information, I have a standard Disclosure page here.
